Swapna James lives with her family in Kalakkattukurushi, a small town near Sri Krishnapuram in Palakkad District of Kerala, India. She runs her farm of over ten acres of land with various crops and produce. She also integrates poultry and animals such as chicken, ducks, rabbits, goats and cows in her farm.
In 2017 Swapna James received the renowned Karshaka-Shree award. Almost every day she get visitors in her farm from within the state and outside who come over to see and study the farm and her farming practices. Her farm grows a wide variety of plants and trees. From Jack fruit trees of over 30 varieties including those that yield fruits throughout the year, to various varieties of tropical fruits including over 50 different varieties of Bananas... Her farm is truly a garden of eden!
Her farms also host various kinds of herbs and medicinal plants. She grows large quantities of turmeric, ginger and tapioca using natural farming methods and without using chemical fertilizers or harmful pesticides.
Her husband James also helps her out in her daily farming chores.
